Born on December 13, 1923 in Swansea, Illinois. Inducted into the service in June 1943, and received basic training at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. In September 1943, transferred to Camp Hale, Colorado where he was assigned to Company G, 85th Infantry Regiment, part of the 10th Mountain Division. Trained as a light machine gun squad leader. Wounded in Italy and awarded a Bronze Star Medal. Discharged on December 31, 1945. Married Rita in 1946 and has four children and eight grand children. Retired af...
